New Concrete Patio Installation
Pouring a new patio starts well before the concrete truck arrives. We dig out the ground to the right depth. Next, we lay a compacted crushed-rock base. This base is what holds the slab level for years. We then set Grade 60 structural steel rebar grid mats inside the wooden forms. A crew member uses a battery-powered automatic rebar tying tool to lock each intersection tightly. This keeps the steel grid flat and even during the pour. A loose grid shifts in wet concrete and weakens the slab. All reinforcement work follows California Building Code Section 1907 structural concrete reinforcement standards.
Stamped Concrete Patios
A stamped concrete patio looks like natural stone or brick but costs far less. The design gets pressed into fresh concrete before it sets. First, we prepare and pour the slab. Next, we dust UV-resistant powder release agent coloring powder across the wet surface. This powder gives the concrete its base color. Also, it stops our stamping tools from sticking. We then press a heavy-duty polyurethane concrete stamping mat set firmly and evenly into the surface. Each press creates the pattern. We use locally sourced concrete mixes to meet California Green Building Standards Code Section 5.406 local materials sourcing rules.
Concrete Patio Resurfacing and Overlays
An old patio does not always need full demolition. If the base slab is solid but the top looks rough, worn, or stained, we can apply a fresh surface over it. First, we grind the top layer with a heavy-duty planetary diamond-wheel concrete floor grinding machine. Grinding opens up the pores and removes loose material. This creates a clean surface for bonding. Next, we apply a thin coat of polymer-modified cementitious concrete micro-topping overlay. This layer bonds tightly and dries to a smooth, fresh appearance. All overlay work meets California Building Code Section 11B-403 accessible route floor surface regulations so the surface stays safe and even.
Concrete Patio Repair and Drainage Correction
Cracks in concrete are not just an eyesore. Standing water next to your home can seep under the foundation. We address both problems in the same visit. We begin with a full inspection. We use a handheld digital concrete ultrasonic crack depth locator to find exactly how deep each crack goes. This tells us whether it is a surface issue or a structural one. For deep cracks, we inject low-viscosity structural epoxy injection resin directly into the gap. The resin flows in and bonds the two sides together from the inside out. We then regrade the yard to direct water away from the slab and the home. All grading follows California Residential Code Section R401.3 grading and drainage standards.
